eng: The article presents modern outlooks of relationship between air pollution by particulate matter (PM) and human morbidity and mortality from chronic noninfectious diseases. The results of short- and long-term influence of PM on the pathogenesis of chronic noninfectious diseases depending on size, origin, chemical composition, and concentration in the air are discussed.
