Реферат:	eng: Males of water vole (Arvicola terrestris) born in captivity were studied. The animals were kept under photoperiod conditions closed to natural ones and free access to food and water. The life-tables are analyzed, the influence of birth date and parental characteristics on the life span is estimated. The maximum life span was 1188 days. The mean lifetime calculated using the life tables was 401 days. The life of the males born in March live was shorter than in the others. Among the males born in September-October, the portion of the animals that survived to the breeding season on the 2nd year of their life was 4 times higher than the share of the males born in March April. The life span negatively depended on the month of birth, litter size and parity and was positively related to the age of sexual maturity. The correlation of parent-offspring life span was nearly zero, but the correlation between the lifetime of sibs was statistically significant (r = 0.37, p < 0.01). The relationships revealed are important for understanding the reasons for the dynamics of the demographic structure of the water vole population in different seasons and phases of the population cycle.
