Реферат:	eng: Forest-steppe is usually characterized as a mosaic marginal biota complex at the junction of forests and steppes. Meanwhile, in the gradient of environmental conditions from the equator to the North Pole, the forest-steppe latitudes are a zone of environmental comfort for biota. As a result, the maximum species richness in the sequence of latitudinal zones occurs here. It is shown that in forest-steppes, the overall proportion of insects does not exceed 30%. The overwhelming majority of forest-steppe inhabitants are psychromesophiles with a stress-tolerant life strategy, capable of penetrating from the forest-steppe into the forest and steppe zones along the biotopes of transient positions. The modern forest-steppe can be considered not a faceless mix, but a separate biome which, due to its universal properties, is of decisive importance for maintaining the zonal order in the West Siberian Plain.
